Energy Law

The energy sector operates within a highly regulated and constantly evolving legal framework. Whether Redispatch 2.0, energy concessions, relief measures, or the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy: legal requirements are complex, yet the economic opportunities are enormous. I combine the precision of a major law firm with the pragmatic perspective of an in-house counsel. For industry & project developers as well as utilities and grid operators.

Concessions and Municipal Energy Projects

Energy suppliers and grid operators must navigate a flood of regulatory requirements in their daily business. I provide concrete legal support for your operational implementation. You receive robust bases for decision-making and clear recommendations for action regarding complex matters – from contract drafting to litigation.

  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Judicial and extrajudicial enforcement and defense of claims. Current focus topics include disputes regarding PPAs and Redispatch 2.0.
  • Concessions: Strategic support for electricity and gas concession procedures under § 46 EnWG (procedural management, criteria catalogs, interim legal protection proceedings).
  • Heating Transition: Legal structuring of heating network projects, geothermal projects, and municipal heat planning.
  • Renewable Energy & Participations: Legal structuring of cooperations with municipalities and project developers, support for transactions, and conception of citizen participation models.

Industrial Energy Law

As an in-house counsel at a global industrial gases group, I know the challenges of the industry firsthand. I do not provide theoretical advice, but counsel designed to minimize legal risks and realize economic opportunities.

  • Energy Procurement & PPAs: Negotiation of long-term supply contracts (Power Purchase Agreements), on-site PPAs, and direct supply models.
  • Decarbonization & Hydrogen: Advice on green and blue hydrogen (RFNBO / RED III), certification and distribution, as well as Carbon Capture (CCS/CCU).
  • Energy Compliance: Risk minimization in energy purchasing, ISO 50001, and exemption privileges (electricity price compensation, special equalization scheme, etc.).
  • Infrastructure & Grid Connection: Lease and operational management agreements, grid connection issues, reduction of grid fees, operator status, and permits.
  • Renewable Energy: Land securing, permitting procedures, and corporate structuring of citizen and municipal participation models.
